Tash Lamont

Born to Tricia Palmer and Royal Lamont, Chantel Tashara Lamont is an exuberant and exceptional performer popularly known as Tash.

Tash has always had a burning love and a compelling passion for the Arts and whether it was singing, dancing, acting or drawing, she always had something she wanted to express with her family and peers. Dancing was always her first love but singing came more naturally, mainly because she was brought up in a family filled with singers.

Her first public performance was at primary school competition at 8 years old, where she captivated the audience with her confidence and undeniable talent. This lead to her continuously competing, winning, and being invited to perform at events in other schools, local communities, weddings, and churches.

While in high school Tash became the lead singer for the school band and also the senior dancer and choreography for all major shows. Her creativity and skills in both dance and song resulted in her school winning numerous awards and receiving top recognition at many competitions, including the JCDC, over a 5 year period. She became a local star throughout the parish of St.Thomas where she is also known as the karaoke queen, a title she shares with her aunt who also sings.

It was the support of her family that made Tash audition for the Digicel Rising Star competition in 2010 at the age of 16 years old. Her amazing vocals impressed the judges, but they felt she was too young at the time. And in 2011, a even more determined Tash, auditioned again and won both the competition and the hearts of the people who deemed her the 'Jamaican Gaga' . All of Tash's performances on the show can be found on YouTube with the search 'Digicel Rising Star Tash'.

Tash was then introduced to Cash Flow record label by a friend and former contestant of the same later that year. And with that team produced multiple tracks which includes 'The Way I Love You', 'Help', 'Merry Christmas' along with two collaborations 'It’s in the Books' and 'Why We Cheat'. All songs can be found on YouTube.
